Yoga is a practice that is translated to mean a joining of the mind and body. At ANSC we offer integrative yoga therapy, an individualized, gentle style of yoga that allows anyone to participate by modifying postures. It is an excellent way to manage stress, reduce tension, anxiety, and pain and increase strength and mobility.
Postures can even be performed while seated. Your yoga instructor can talk with you about physical limitations to help modify and create an individualized yoga experience.
Chair Yoga is yoga that replaces the mat with a chair. It is designed to allow almost anyone to become a student of yoga. It works the joints and muscles to increase flexibility, strength, balance, and circulation. This is an activity that encourages everyone to become more body aware using the breath to explore areas of tension and clear the mind thus moving into a state of greater peace.
Weekly Chair Yoga is offered every Wednesday at noon in Fairfield. Pre-registration is required, please call our neuropsychology coordinator at 203.333.1133, ext 152.
